The CEO of Irish Water’s parent Ervia, will no longer be with the company as he was fired after making too many costly mistakes.
After joining the company in 2013, the CEO began to make one mistake after the other near the end of his tenure, which eventually led to his firing.
“The decision by Ervia has not been an easy one to process. While my time at the company has been very challenging, it has also been very rewarding,” he said.
His time as CEO was not void of controversy. There was a lot of time spent defending the establishment of Irish Water and they also came under pressure for holding shares in NTR, which part-owned Celtic Anglian Water Ltd (CAW), a company that had contracts with Ervia’s subsidiary for meter installation and waste water.
The following statement by the company was released following the CEO's firing.
“He has played a key role in the establishment of Ervia and has led the company through its complex and demanding evolution from its origins as Bord Gáis Éireann. That journey involved the sale of the Bord Gáis Energy business, the formation of Gas Networks Ireland and the creation of Irish Water,”
While it wasn't an easy decision for the company to make, they believe it was one that had to be made sooner or later. Both sides believe that going their separate ways will be best for both parties in the long run.
